An explosion that occurred at a Bronx high school science lab has injured three with severe burns. The blast has affected about 3,000 students at John F. Kennedy Educational campus, who have had to relocate right at the beginning of the 2015-16 school year. The detonation occurred while workers were preparing the science labs – they were allegedly working on gas pipes feeding into Bunsen burners for several hours in a non-vented area – as a result of a worker lighting a match to test one of the burners. According to news sources, there has been a major public transportation accident in NYC. A subway train carrying 1,000 passengers derailed on May 2nd, 2014, injuring more than a dozen people. Rescuers reported that four people sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized. Fifteen others were treated at the scene of the derailment. The derailed train was an express F train headed toward Manhattan and Brooklyn. Six of the eight cars on the train derailed at approximately 10:40 a.m, just south of 65th Street station in Queens.
